Q&A WITH MARIE LAUGA, GLOBAL HEAD OF DESIGN, ROXY

What’s the inspiration behind the new Roxy swimwear collection?
For spring we’ve introduced a balanced mix of fresh colours and floral prints, using traditional techniques with a handcraft feel, such as embroidery or macramé details. A minimalist crop shape sits alongside more modest long-sleeved swimsuits. Bandeau shapes continue to be popular. The one piece is really strong this season and has become the key style to have.

If you’re going to pack for a week in Hossegor what would you go with?

Your surfboard, Roxy bikini, a cool baggy t-shirt, denim shorts and your favourite flip-flops.

What can we expect to see for summer?

This season’s POP Surf collection is undeniably Roxy. Think bold print mixes evoking traditional Hawaiian floral, along with bright stripes and blues that evoke the mystery of unexplored waters. Colour blocking and new fabrics drive the sleek style and functionality that is synonymous with POP Surf.

What trends are big for this season?
There are three big trends that highlight colours, textures or prints through feminine and fashion styles:
Caribbean Spices: Colour, culture, Caribbean warmth. Flavours and spices are everywhere. Earthy tones and effortless silhouettes evoke the art of simplicity.
Bandana Daze: Embrace the brilliance of endless blues. Fall in love with romantic designs for the seaside dreamer.
Tropical Day: On the fringe of the cobalt Caribbean, a small island, a strip of white sand, a getaway. It’s not an escape; it’s a state of being. Be wild. Be flamboyant. Let it all hang out and live like you mean it.
