The retreat consists of a spacious beach front lounge, restaurant/bar combined with 3 luxurious and private hillside bungalows. For surfers, the idyllic set-up of world class waves in every direction, including directly off the beach out front, means an abundance of choice for waves to suit all levels of surfing. With a maximum of 6-10 guests per stay, attention to detail is the focus, ensuring everyone has a unique and personalised experience in this lush tropical setting.

Do the waves suit all surf abilities?
At your disposal are two Indonesian speedboats and experienced surf guides, ready to get you to any of the 25 waves in the region, that best suit your ability, whenever you want. We’ll find what’s perfect for you to surf.
Do you offer girls only trips?
Yes – if you’re after a girls only surf trip, we still have spots available for October 21st – October 31st and October 31st – November 8th.
Where is the retreat located?
Mentawai Surf Retreat is nestled on 20 acres of beach front land on Nyang Nyang Island in the Northern Mentawai region. This region is known as the “Playgrounds” area, and the name says it all. The Mentawai Islands are Mother Nature’s gift to the surfing world.
Where do guests stay?
In the comfortable, secure, and spacious hillside bungalows, locally handcrafted, combining the traditional Mentawai methods with the modern luxuries of the western world. Each has a en suite bath with tropical backdrop and a a private deck for you to relax and enjoy the surroundings.
