Historically an A1 fave with Brits escaping our isles dank and dreary months, Lanza is a classic surf destination.
It is an awesome spot, with a good variety of waves. As a Brits-abroad winter classic, Lanzo is one of the easiest surf-retreats to get to: there are plenty of flights; cheap accommodation, and there are some great surf schools for beginners and intermediates.

What to expect Located just far enough south to escape the full bite of the northern hemisphere winter, the Canaries have long been
a refuge for the battered European surfer.
When to go From September to March swells pulse down from intense Atlantic storms and unload onto the beaches of the Fortunate Isles. The water is warm, the living cheap, and sunshine is guaranteed.
Where to surf For beginners and intermediates head straight
to Famara Beach on Lanzarote, and Flag on Fuerteventura.
For advanced surfers, the small fishing village of La Santa on Lanzarote is one of the most popular wintering grounds with three world-class breaks. On Fuerteventura head to the North Shore in search of waves.
What will £20 buy you? It’ll pay for you and a friend to enjoy the best tapas money can buy in one of the cafes in Famara village, or it’ll almost pay for you to rent a car for the day and go exploring…
