We had a fab response to our office clear out competition.

Thanks for entering the competition, your entries were very inspirational and some of them made us laugh! So it was really difficult narrowing it down to ten winners but we did and here they are. Well done girls!

2012 New Year Resolutions

My New Years Resolution normally has the words, Chocolate, Less and Exercise in the sentence this year is going to be a year of positivity. As it will be the Chinese year of the Dragon I think I will aim to try and do bold things, not be nervi or worried, just get out there and try new experiences. Live life to the MAX! x
Sarah Evans

My resolution is to keep past resolutions Also to appreciate what i have and have a laugh, i have a friend who’s just gone through the toughest year of her life and it’s made me realise how easy I have it and that I have nothing to frown about. Finally to ride a wave in Bali, got to cross that off my list.
Brogaen Maynard

My resolution is actually more of a challenge. I am challenging my mind to open up to new thing by reading one classic book a month, listening to one of the top 100 albums of all time a week and watching one Oscar winning movie a week. You can read what books, albums and movies on my blog here: http://bettylivin.com/2011/12/22/books-movies-and-artists-to-experience-in-2012/
Rachel Tynan

My new years resolution is to remember that it’s okay to be a beginner–whatever it is. That it will feel better to be a beginner and improve, “move up,” than being hard on yourself and feeling embarrassed that you didn’t prove you are actually at some level you thought you should be or made it seem like you’d be to others around you.
The faster you accept that you’re at x level, the sooner you get to the level you want to be. But be okay with the level you are truly at and accept it! Because soon you’ll be blowing kisses to that skill level as you cruise on upward!
Catalinda

I’m going to make lists. I generally remember the surfboard, but always forget something I need. It’s a be frightening when you start turning into your mum.
Katherine Coldicott

My New Year’s resolution is to start giving back to the ocean, beach, and enviornment each time I go out there to surf. I live in New York City and most people here don’t believe theres actually any surf here. The surf community here is huge and its amazing that I can take a two hour train ride outside the city to hit the shore. Whats also unbeliveable is the unecessary amount of garbage I see on the streets of the city everyday. I plan to give back to the ocean by walking the beach after each session and help clear the beach of any garbage that could wash back into the ocean. I want my children one day to be able to enjoy the ocean as much I do one day!
Ashley Martin

My New Year’s Resolution is to do one thing each month that I’ve never done before that takes me out of my comfort zone – a solo trip abroad, surfing when the swell’s a little bigger than I’m used to, finally starting to learn Spanish! I want to reach the end of 2012 and feel like I’ve really grown and experienced new things and lived life to the full, because after all life is too short not to!
Laura

To roll down a hill wrapped in bubble wrap!
Aimee

My New Years resoulution is to become a better person, ignore bad vibes and closed minds, to enjoy and make the most of the small time we have on this tiny rock floating in space. to take time and look at all the tiny wonders that this lifetime offers that usually go unnoticed and above all smile because when you do other people will start to. Happy Christmas and New Year to all.
Kim Price

My New Years Resolution is to try new things even when I’m scared that I won’t be good at it or I might fall over. Life is about experiences and 2012 is gonna be the year of jumping right in.
Charlotte

The best way to keep warm in the winter is to make sure u don’t stop charging!!! All the women, surfing winters, throw u’r hands up at me!!! … Sweet

My Nalu bead would be called Freshwater West because I live next to it and it is the best surf beach in Wales, theres no place like Fresh and I’m 12 and I love surfing there. The colours for Fresh would be just like the beach, everytime I go down the hill on my bike it’s a different colour and so beautiful, so my Nalu bead would be lapiz blue and aqua green for the sea, sparking white for the waves, lines of burnt umber for the headlands and a little bit of driftwood for the sand dunes. And it would look great if it had bubbles to show how clear the water is at Fresh x

Recipes for a fairytale; damsel in distress, the baddy and a knight in shining armour. Except our tale is a little different. Just as Cinders is sat scrubbing the floor, unable to attend the ball, along comes her Fairy Godmother.

The season was about to be cut short for the UK Pro Surf women with the final date on the diary cancelled due to lack of sponsorship. Nalu Beads have waved their magic wand and saved the fair Maidens looking at battling it out for the Ladies Tour Crown.

Nalu Bead’s Queen of Queens contest will run this weekend seeing the overall Ladies champion for 2011 decided at Fistral Beach.

Lisa Adam’s of Nalu Beads said “It’s fantastic to get the opportunity to support women’s surfing in this country. We were involved with the British event recently and to see the girls paddling out in such big waves with commitment and bravery, they really are role models we want to be encouraging. The fact we can ensure the final women’s UK Pro Surf event goes ahead is just brilliant and we are so excited at the opportunity.”

The contest will run this weekend with entries being taken at the UKPSA office. So Cinder’s can go to the Ball after all – or in this case the UK Pro Surf Awards which will be hosted Sunday evening at the Esplanade Hotel. Tickets are £25 available from the office on 01637854854

To celebrate Nalu Beads are running a contest in conjunction with SurfGirl. There’s £100 worth of Nalu Beads bracelet up for grabs, complete with a silver heart fastener

To enter the competition tell us if you were to design a Nalu Bead what would it be? Give us the name, choice of colours and why.

The winner will be chosen on the 30th of November. For inspiration check out www.nalubeads.com

And the Cover Up winner is Victoria Gower with her amusing tale of the traumas of getting changed post surf!

After the last few winters of getting changed on a busy roadside in freezing temperatures, getting as many layers on as quickly as possible with the ultimate claw hand has become a skill in itself and a comedy experience. A super toastie robe has become an essential and reduces the chance of scaring off the tourists when a gust of wind reveals my full moon
