Part one of beach bbq’s…yay!!

Apparently it’s one of the hottest weekends, so far this year. And what better way than to enjoy it on the beach, and cooking outdoors.¬† Yesterday, we (me and the boyfriend) decided to step up a bbq one step further by cooking a thai style bbq curry. Here’s how we got on…

Step one ..find a good spot, grab a rock preferably to use as a surface to cook on.

Ingredients (nearly forgot)

Bbq, lighter etc…, garlic, lime, gi
ginger, corriander, thai curry         paste, 1 chilli, 1 onion, (or more
depending on how many people e
etc… coconut milk, and optional
extras like chicken, prawns,¬†¬†¬†¬† spinach, sugarsnap peas etc…
(make it your individual curry)

So we found the perfect spot and decided take in the surroundings whilst waiting for the bbq to dit’s thing and heat up. Was blissful yesterday as, so many people were just doing their own thing and enjoy their surroundings and what the beach had to offer them, the sights, sounds, people, place all coming alive in the sun.

Okay, so next bit easy (when the flames have died down, and smoke goes down), get some little rocks, these act as a base to put a metal tin on, to cook your curry. You could use the mess tin aswell, thats just as easy. Wait for the tin to heat up abit, and add some oil, to this add lime zest, ginger, garlic, chilli and onion, and soften it.¬† Add 4 tspn’s of thai paste and mix well and fry for a minute or two until the spices smell fragrant.¬† Squeeze in the lime juice and stir.

If using full fat coconut milk, stir in the thick bit until melted, then add the rest of the milk. Add in any extras.  Next,  bring everything to the boil, and at the very last minute until add the prawns now if using, better to use raw prawns, but wait till they are pink and hot to eat.

Now our bbq did take a while for everything to heat up, and cook well before we could eat…but it doesn’t really matter when you can take a little walk on the beach before hand and let the food cook to be ready to eat when you get back. Brilliant. One final thing, add some more corriander to the food a few mins before serving to give some flavour!! Serve, and enjoy…:)

Rob adding the essentials

Food yummy

Spring is here, horrah!!, and think it’s gonna be a warm weekend.¬† Finally had my first
bbq of the year yesterday with the boyfriend on the beach. And it was utter bliss!!

So what better way to spend this weekend, than taking a lovely (summer eve) walk
to see the most glourious of sunsets that will soon be avaliable now…woop! or simply
grab your friends and light up a bbq on the beach, with plenty of chatter and the warmth
of the bbq to keep people toasty as the evening sets in.

Happy lovely weekend everyone!!

Yes, its Valentines day coming soon, and what better way to celebrate than taking some cool little snaps for your loved ones, (be it your parents, friends, or special someone) Something home made always goes down a treat, and is something unique to you and them.

Just a thought, for an extra special card, why not get your self down on the beach, get a stick or pebble..and draw yourself a message for that person or even simply a heart. Print it out and show just how special your message is!!

Happy Valentines surf girls xx

The sea part was spelt on purpose that way, but its true with the beach. The way it uncovers itself at certain parts of the day is really inspiring, and only when you visit the same beach time and time again at different times can you really see how it changes…

even then it never quite stays the same..

This pic reveals a captured moment at Gylly beach (Falmouth) when I happened to take a walk, and noticed this that happened to be uncovered from the sea when the tide happened to be out. I had walked on the beach time and time again, and had not yet noticed this.
