Northcore Europe are pleased to announce the introduction of surfer Sophie Hellyer to the team. During her surfing career North Devon surfer Sophie has competed at the highest level in the UK, free surfed and travelled her way around the world. She is a great ambassador for UK women’s surfing and Northcore are very pleased to welcome her onto the team.
Northcore spokesman said of the recent joining, “We’re stoked to have Sophie on the team, not only are her abilities outstanding on both on a long and shortboards she also has a respected profile within the UK surf scene and is a great role model for aspiring young British surfers”
North Devon local, Hellyer grew up by the ocean and as both her father and sisters surfed, it was only natural for her to follow in their footsteps since the age of 13. She has previously won National titles however her time is now focused on surfing and travelling overseas as often as possible, especially throughout the winter months. Her surf trips have stacked up 25 countries, with destinations including the proving grounds of Hawaii and also Fiji, Tahiti, Maldives, Australia, South Africa, Costa Rica, California, Indonesia, UAE, Jamaica, Barbados and throughout Europe. Hellyer’s favourite waves are in Indonesia and Fiji but closer to home the local reefs at Croyde and Lynmouth are top of the list.
In Sophie’s own words, “My aim is to do lots of trips to beautiful places and get some really good waves, and most importantly keep a smile on my face.”
