EUROPEAN FLOWRIDER CHAMPIONSHIP EVENT SET TO MAKE A SPLASH AT CORNWALL’S RETALLACK RESORT & SPA
Retallack Resort and Spa will play host to the third annual European Flow Tour on 21st July.
Featuring some of Europe’s top Flowboarders vying for a spot in the European finals, this qualifying event – in association with WaveLoch, O’Neill and DC – is set to be bigger and better than ever. Spectators can look forward to an afternoon of adrenaline-fuelled action, as well as live bands, DJ sets, prize giveaways, a BBQ and a cocktail bar with great drinks promotions.
Cornish hopefuls competing for the top spot include Retallack’s very own Gethin Walters, current European bodyboard champion, and Luke Hopper, runner up at first European event held at the Loop. European longboard champion Ben ‘Skindog’ Skinner is also supporting the event and is rumoured to be making an appearance in the men’s stand-up category.
Ben Jones, FlowRider Operations and Marketing Manager at Retallack, said: ‘We’re anticipating an amazing day of riding at The Loop, with skills on show that are guaranteed to impress the crowd. The competition will kick off at 1pm but the action is continuing right into the evening so it should be a brilliant day!’
The event itself is free to watch from the amphitheatre style decking or the Loop restaurant and will start at 1pm, continuing throughout the afternoon and evening. Watch Europe’s best boarders carve, ollie and flip their way to victory and a place in the European Finals, which will be held in Yorkshire later in the year.
For those wishing to participate, applications for entry are now being accepted. Categories for men’s stand-up, women’s stand-up, bodyboarding and teams (designed to be a fun all-inclusive event) will be held throughout the afternoon. Runs will be scored on style, variety of tricks, difficulty of manoeuvres and use of the whole wave.
Featuring live bands, DJ sets, a barbecue and a cocktail bar, it’s not to be missed!
The entry fee for the men’s stand-up, bodyboarding and women’s stand-up categories is £30, which includes one and a half hours of practice time. Entry for the team event costs £80 per team of four (£20 each), or is free to anyone entering any other category. To enter, please email firstname.lastname@example.org.
