Surf Maroc are looking for a energetic, enthusiastic and hardworking individual with a relevant skills set to join a a growing brand with lots of opportunities to be based in a rapidly developing world class surfing destination.
Ideal applicant will be dynamic and resourceful and will bring with them a host of ideas for furthering the brands scope and not just be looking for a 9 to 5 with set tasks. First and foremost this job is suited to those who appreciate the balance between lifestyle and work. This position affords you the luxury of living and surfing in a great place, but you wont become a millionaire. We have a great team here and we have fun but everyone understands that we are here to work hard at providing holidays not to be on holiday and that there are some long days, but the reward of a great lifestyle makes it worth it. Taking on this role is a lifestyle choice. That said the photographer/ media position is one that can be more financially rewarding than other roles but putting the time in is essential.
The commission/profit you make will depend on the hours you put in and it isn’t always as glamourous as some might wish. The majority of sales will come from selling to beginners and that means evenings spent selling. Getting good beginners shots means standing at a beach taking photos of close outs. That said you don’t have to be there all day. 2 – 3 hours shooting from 9am is the norm. Its a sociable position which relies on you introducing yourself to guests and being approachable and friendly.
No tyre kickers of those wanting to come on a surf trip need apply. We are a hard working team here with a strong passion for what we do. This is a fantastic opportunity for a graduate in media or someone with a desire to work in the surf industry and in and around of epic surf .
A normal week will see average sales of 8- 10 cds a week and 20+on a good week. We charge 250dh (approx £20) per cd which include lots of shots of the guest plus a few lifestyle/ scenic shots.
Commission is a 60/40 split in your favour.
There is time to surf but you need to be very focused and disciplined. Getting the job done takes priority.
Your time will be split as follows:
Surf Maroc social media updates daily with relevant content shot and edited by you.
Assisting as necessary with media promotions / content etc ( i.e web or print ) This is project dependant and not a daily routine but it is to be consider a primary role when required.
Shooting daily 4 – 6 times a week or as necessary.
Splitting images daily
Selling in the evenings normally at 7pm 3 – 4 times a week or as necessary
Shooting / editing film shorts for social media- 3 or more a month
Surf Maroc have access to all footage shot whilst you’re here with us – this material is your copyright but we have right of use of it for anything connected Surf Maroc ie we won’t syndicate it to a third party unless it is for use in promoting Surf Maroc.
We provide you with:
Accommodation ( room in staff apartment ) – this is in exchange for the the social media work.
Lunch when at work.
Space in the Taghazout Villa office to work from.
Option to help host and have evening meals at the Tagahzout Villa.
