Felicity Palmateer on the new SurfGirl
This issue as we feel summer is around the corner (no really it is!) we check out the latest bikinis on offer, you can never have enough of them! Plus look at ways of getting and keeping that bikini body for summer and feeling confident about it. And we check out some amazing surf art from artists around the world. Plus we look at ways of keeping your surfboard looking it’s best and how to perfect your pop ups. And if you’re thinking about going on holiday we take a look at some cool destinations for surf girls on your own or with friends.
And we’re really inspired by the ladies who are helping the planet in their own little way. Whether it’s living an alternative lifestyle as Holly Beck is in Nicaragua, or setting up an environmental initiative with Quiksilver and Roxy as Martixu Derrigrand has, recycling old surfboards like Kim Mayer, or helping to save whales with Lauren Hill and Nat Fox. These women are actively pushing themselves to create a better environment in which we live.
Plus we follow some adventurous surfers who went on surf trips with a difference. Easkey Britton went on a pioneering surf trip to Iran, not the usual surf destination! Easkey is probably the only woman to have surfed here before, and as a female surfer caused a stir amongst the locals. As did Stephanie Gilmore when she visited Senegal on behalf of the Quiksilver Initiative. And Sarah Beardmore went to test out a cutting edge surfboard in the Solomon Islands where the locals couldn’t understand why she wasn’t married. Just when you think the world is shrinking due to our ever reaching global technology it’s good to know there’s still places where surfing hasn’t touched, where it’s all completely new and exciting to see.
On the cover is Felicity Palmateer, she was snapped by ace photog Clare Plueckhahn in the Maldives on a trip with the Billabong surf team.
