2010 SACRED CRAFT SURF EXPO IN VENTURA, CA
Last weekend was the 2nd Annual Sacred Craft Surf Expo in Ventura, CA. The event, also held in Del Mar, CA every October, is designed to highlight all the various surfboard designs and the shapers who create them. This year’s event was dedicated to master craftsman, Renny Yater. In what has been titled as the, “Masters Shape-Off,” six premier California shapers were chosen to replicate a classic Yater design. The shapers included Todd Proctor, Nick Pallandrini, Dennis Ryder, Michel Junod, Matt Moore and Wayne Rich. After all was said and done, it was Mr. Rich who managed to pull off the best replication.
My boyfriend, Ian Zamora, is the owner/shaper of his own surfboard label: Zamora Surfboards. We had our own 10 x 10 booth and Ian was fortunate enough to secure time in the demo shaping booth for Sunday morning to show off some of his skills. All in all, the weekend was a success.
