¬†Monday 1st March (St Davids Day) officially marked¬†the first day of spring.¬†I’m really enjoying the¬†post work¬†surfs¬†and occasional morning runs¬†now the days are lighter. ¬†

Last weekend hundeds of people got together¬†on beaches all over the¬†UK for the Surfers Against Sewage (SAS)¬†annual spring beach clean. The west Wales beach clean took place at Newgale and it was really lovely to see so many people of all ages come along, grab a bag and get stuck in.¬†We had loads of fun and¬†as the¬†beach is one of our favourite places to surf and¬†hang out and it’s really important we keep those spaces clean, not just because it’s nicer to look at but also helps to stop thousands of marine animals dying every year from entanglement and indigestion. As 2009 broke all beach litter records and with no signs of an improvement on the horizon, SAS with the help of 3,000¬†signatures from¬†concerned water users around the UK,¬†are now petitioning the Prime Minister for a National Marine Litter Strategy which was sent off to Number 10 at the beginning of the week,¬† so watch this space!
